My Journey from Finance to Fine Detailing

With a Master’s degree in Finance and a double major at the University of Maryland, I was slated for a career in the corporate finance world. I found myself drawn to a different kind of precision—one that combined creativity and craftsmanship.

Leaving finance wasn’t easy, but it was the right choice. Today, I’ve built a detailing business on old-school values: hard work, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of perfection. Every car I touch gets the same care and attention I’d give my own.

I take a preservation focused approach to detailing, where I will never jeopardize a vehicles robustness to make it 'cleaner'. My methods are meticulous, delicate, and strategic. Rest assured that I've put in the long hours honing my craft to deliver you the best results possible while keeping you out of the repaint booth.

About Me

My name is James Dawson, and I'm a lifelong detailer and entrepreneur. I detail with millimetric precision, frequently clocking 20+ hours per car.

I obtained my B.S. in Management and Operations Management + Business Analytics and my M.S. Finance from the University of Maryland.

I am also the CEO of the MatRx Corporation, we make automotive products to beautify and prolong the life of vehicles. To date, our products have reached tens of thousands of Americans and is quickly expanding.
